Big news from Early Days Biplanes – We are Now Featuring Vintage Aircraft for Sale!
Early Days Biplanes was created to be the central location for all vintage aviation and biplane enthusiasts, pilots, and researchers. Whether you’re here for the pre-1940 aircraft photos, the book reviews, the curated aviation library, or just to read the blog.
Now, we’re excited to announce the next step:
Vintage Aircraft Sales are now live on the website!
As of this week, you’ll notice the “Vintage Aircraft Sales” tab at the top and bottom of our website. This new page will feature curated listings of vintage aircraft, welcoming aircraft of the Lincoln Beachy era to World War Two. This includes today’s experimental and kit aircraft that are vintage in type such as those found with Airdrome Airplanes. My goal is to offer a trusted, enthusiast-run space where collectors, restorers, and pilots can discover and connect over these beautiful machines and, crucially, what they represent!
To kick this project off, I have created a sample listing to give you an idea of the layout and information you can expect (www.earlydaysbiplanes.com/aircraft-sales). If you’re an owner looking to sell a vintage aircraft, or know someone who is, we would love to help get it in front of the right audience.
How does it work? Selling:
Tremendous effort has been dedicated to making the buying and selling of aircraft on our website as easy and trouble-free as possible. If you are interested in listing a vintage aircraft for sale on our website, here is a step-by-step of how to do so:
-Simply visit the Vintage Aircraft Sales tab of our website.
-Select “click here to list your aircraft”.
-Fill out the dedicated form which includes your contact information, details about the aircraft, a description of the aircraft, and any photos, logbooks, documents, or videos you would like to attach for a potential buyer to view.
-Once the form has been completed and submitted, it will be automatically sent to Early Days Biplanes for review. Once we have reviewed the information, we will create an advertisement of your aircraft on our website that will resemble our sample ad posted there currently.
-We will periodically post your aircraft on our Instagram page, as well as our blog, for absolutely no charge to you. At present, Early Days Biplanes is not providing brokerage services… we are just here to help and to make a difference in the community by listing airplanes!
-Your contact information (phone number and email) will be posted in the ad like you might see on Barnstormers or Trade-A-Plane, however if you would not like them listed, there is an option on the listing form to express that. A potential buyer can reach out to you via those details but if you have opted out of having them displayed in the ad, there is a “Contact Seller” button. This button will send the buyer to a specific form that includes their contact information and a message to you, the seller. Their completed form will be sent directly to the email you have given us and there you have it, a buyer and seller in communication!
How does it work? Buying:
If you are on our website and see an aircraft you are interested in purchasing, the following explains how to do so. Again, we have attempted to make it as simple as possible for both parties:
-The seller’s contact information will be posted in the advertisement unless they opt out of displaying them publicly. If their phone number and email are in the advertisement, you may certainly contact them that way.
-If the seller’s contact information is not in the advertisement or if you want to contact them through the website, there is a “Contact Seller” button to communicate with the seller directly. By clicking that button, you will be redirected to a form with information that includes your name, email, phone number, and a message to the seller about what you are interested in.
-Currently, Early Days Biplanes is remaining a third party in the transaction, other than listing the aircraft on our website and Instagram, and not providing any official brokerage services. If you have questions about the aircraft, its logbook, location, etc., please reach out to the seller.
Why this new direction?
Because every day we tragically see the flying public overlook these aircraft, their pilots, and the role they have all played in the history of flight. Too often, these machines get lost in generic classifieds or auction sites that don’t speak the language of history and passion that defines the purpose of Early Days Biplanes. That lack of appreciation for these aircraft extends far beyond the realm of aviation brokerage as well; how many times do social media aviation influencers overlook these magical airplanes, get showered in attention and appreciation for doing the bare minimum just because the caught it on one of their thirteen cameras, and how little does the majority of America’s new pilot cadre know about vintage aircraft or the pilots that flew them? This project as a whole was born out of a vehement desire to broadcast these shortcomings in the aviation community and at the same time exhibit to new pilots their roots and how important the history of their craft is, even before they even check the weather for their next flight. The Vintage Aircraft Sales tab was created in an effort to place another foot in that exact direction.
To make a difference, and to extend that passion to you.
So take a look, share the page with fellow enthusiasts, and let us know what you think. We are also open to feedback and suggestions on how to make this new venture as useful as possible.
Thank you!
